Have been to castle cottage many times with friends and family and always had good service and food. However took hubby who ordered a bacon sandwich which was to say embarrassing, cheap brown bread and two rashers of bacon, it was very poor for the price which was around 5-6!! The young staff seem to work really hard but dont look like they enjoy their work but maybe the guy behind the counter has something to do with it. Seems quite rude and arrogant and not very approachable.Seems that new management has let down this beautiful place safe to say we wont be going back. Miss Bs tea room in Melton is a must visit for afternoon tea.
So much character, small but beautifully decorated, staff are helpful and friendly and the flapjack is to die for!! I will be returning with friends
Visited for the first time today and enjoyed lunch with a friend. Up until the point I decided to get cakes for us to take home I fully intended to come back. I chose 5 cakes and was shocked to be told they came to 29. I genuinely don't understand how they can justify charging 5.80 per slice for a mean and meagre portion at that! Castle Cottage, if you're reading this, please display your cake prices on the cabinet and save other customers from the embarrassment and discomfort of feeling like they've been ripped off.

An idyllic setting in which to enjoy lunch or afternoon tea. We discovered this pretty garden cafe almost accidentally, hidden away near the church. Very tranquil. Nice menu with plenty of choice, sweet and savoury. Pleasant and efficient waiting on staff even on a hot day. Would visit more frequently if only we lived closer!
